The Everlasting Light

This year I have been focusing on “finding myself” in the chaos and clutter of life.   Us mothers tend to put more pressure on ourselves than we need.  I always have felt I am not good enough, that there’s something wrong with me.  The truth is, I am not perfect.  I have to learn that it’s okay not to be perfect and to forgive myself.  The perfectionist in me likes to keep things comfortable, and know what is happening, not take risks.  But that is where change happens.  God brings us out of our comfort zones and stretches our faith.  Our faith grows when we have to depend on Him.

Exodus 14:14 says “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”  I need to remember to be still in the chaos and clutter of life.  Be still and know He is God and has it under control.  He is fighting for me, I need only to trust.  And if God is who He says He is and I believe that, then I need to show that more; to be intentional in my walk with Him.  How else can I be a light to this dark world?

It’s not always easy to be intentional, as we tend to forget easily as we get lost in everyday life.  I love the new Everlasting Light Collection by (in)courage, because they are daily reminders to shine your light to the dark world.   The Starburst bookends placed on your book shelf can help remind you to shine before you leave, or as you survey the mess left by children.  I think I might need to get a few of those!  My favorite piece is the Everlasting Light – Layered Shimmer Necklace, as it not only reminds me to shine my light as it’s worn, but that I am a child of God, and He is my everlasting light.

Your sun will never set again, and your moon will wane no more; the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your days of sorrow will end. -Isaiah 60:20

How awesome is our God?  Our days of sorrow will end.  Forever!  This life is temporary.  I need to get out there and shine my light while I still can and show the world, the best is yet to come!  Go out will intention of bringing attention to Christ.  And I don’t have to do it alone.  Will you join me?

  1. Pam,
This was a much needed reminder. In order to let God shine through us, we need to be still before him and let him light our paths. Thank you for this beautiful post that touched my heart.

  2. I am going to memorize this verse: Your sun will never set again, and your moon will wane no more; the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your days of sorrow will end. -Isaiah 60:20
I simply love it. I like Philippians 2:15 too. This whole series has been so enlightening to me. I want to stretch my faith like you wrote.

I really identified with your opening. I was late submitting my piece to the linkup. I was nervous and did not think I could do a good enough job. I wrote four drafts before I finally shook myself and said just write.

Anyway, here is mine finally. I hope you don’t mind me sharing it with you:

Thank you for sharing your heart. I really enjoyed reading your piece.

    1. Thanks Mary for taking the time to read it. This was my first time to post something like this, and I don’t exactly like the way I wrote it, but I posted anyway. Glad it touched you! That was what I was hoping for. 🙂
