I have been intrigued by art journaling lately. I see beautiful journals all over the internet. I usually use my sketch book for sketching ideas for my concept photography pieces I want to work on one day, but today I tried my hand at the art journal. It’s not as easy as it looks! I am always intimidated by a blank page if I have no prior thoughts about what I want to do. I was determined to do something, so I started flipping through magazines and found an image of a road along the west coast. That was my starter, the inspiration if you will. I just kinda went with it and did something. Normally I would stare at it for ages wishing for an image to pop into my head so I could then try to get it on paper.
It’s nothing special, but it’s my first attempt and I love it because it is the first and I just went for it. It was a fun exercise, but one I am not sure if I’m going to be able to keep up with on a daily schedule! Maybe weekly? I want to find a book that will be only for art journaling. Perhaps I could make my own? I’m sure pinterest has too many ideas on how to do that. 😉
All I do know is that it is more fun to art journal with the kids, or other people. I tend to feed off of others creativity and it truly helps me stay focused. I am looking forward to trying some new ideas and getting back into drawing. I miss it so much and I am rusty at it.
